The Roaring Lamb

O’ God O’ God, why have you chosen me with this heavy burden?  What did I do to deserve this? Why ME?  I do not want this gift as you call it.  I hear and see all the broken hearts that you have hopes for, I have prayed for them, not expecting an answer from a faceless God.  That night I went to bed as normal, not knowing what bee’s nest I had stirred up.

In my dream, a man approached.  He said, “What child of mine has the right to speak to me like that, a child whom I gave my life for?  You have no idea what I went through at Golgotha.”  You think I wanted that burden and that pain I felt on that dark day.  Come walk with me; let’s have long talk my son!”

As we walked down a sandy beach, he began to show me faces of people whom I had never seen nor cared about.  Then he said, “These are my warriors.  Some of these warriors can prophecy in my name, others can heal in my name, and others can speak in foreign tongues from different lands.”  He went on for days showing me their faces and telling me their gifting.  He then stopped on a face that looked much like my own, but it was much younger.  This child was asking Christ into his life and he focused on a phrase, “let your will be done through me.  Let me be your light in this dark world!”  Oh, wow I knew that kid.

That was me at camp several years back.  That was when I asked Christ into my life for the very first time.  What does this have to do with me here and now?  He said, “Some time later you prayed with your friend for me to reveal your gifting.  You asked and you received a Gift that is so rare, beautiful, and yet so powerful: The ability to see into a person’s heart to see if it has been broken and if they are hurting.

You could sit and listen to someone cry even if it was a complete stranger.  You are a warrior that stands up for the weak, the sick, and the lame who will not take no for an answer.  No, you are my very special warrior.  You are gentle like a lamb, you can roar like a lion on the hunt.  I have given you the gifting of mercy, and with a servants heart you have begun to use it.  You are now finally realizing your heart is pure and big and nothing will stop you.  You asked me why I gave you these burdens even though I took the entire burden from your life the day you asked me to come walk with you down this road of life.  No, this is not a burden; this is a gift.
